Programming

Most of our programming is in the form of philosophy-oriented discussion groups. We meet in public gathering places (breweries, coffeeshops, parks, community centers) and discuss the big ideas inspired by a topic of interest to the group. Current groups include Harry Potter, Star Trek, children’s stories, and current events. Past groups include Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, and general pop culture.

Resources

  • We created Thinking Games to make philosophy more accessible to our community members. With these 20 games, we explore philosophical ideas through roleplay, board games, puzzles, and more! Stay tuned for a pdf of our guidebook, which was created with the support of the Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization.

  • Hogwarts Prep is an annual summer camp that Grey Havens Philosophy runs in Longmont, Colorado. We prepare young magicfolk for their studies at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and also expand their minds using our standard philosophical approach. Hogwarts Prep is currently not being offered since summer 2023, but we hope to bring it back soon. Look back at past years via our eckeltronic website!

  • We partner with the Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization (PLATO) to use the practice of Philosophy for Children and Communities (P4C) in our programming. Visit their website to learn more!

  • In 2023, we recorded virtual facilitator training sessions for our volunteers to learn and apply our Geek Philosophy method. Check out the videos on our Youtube channel!
