Do You Call Yourself a Geek or a Nerd?

It doesn’t matter! At Geek Fair 2015, part of the Longmont Museum’s Cultural Resources Fair, we are all one! At the Grey Havens Group and Grey Havens YA, we tend to use the words “geek” and “nerd” interchangeably. We know not everyone agrees with this practice but the important thing is that we value community, imagination and enthusiasm–all things that geeks and nerds have in abundance. That is why were are pleased to welcome the founders of Nerd2Go Magazine to our first annual Geek Fair!

Be heard! Be nerd!

Nerd2Go Magazine is a new publication that will be launching in January, 2016, representing all parts of the nerd community. Grey Havens Group/Grey Havens YA is proud to be a small part of the history of this endeavor that is very close to our hearts. Our Grey Havens YA “slogo” with which we begin and end each meeting is, after all, a quote from Wil Wheaton, “Being a nerd is not about what you love; it’s about how you love it!” Come to Geek Fair, meet the wonderful folks from Nerd2Go and show them how welcoming the geeks AND nerds of our community can be!

Nerd2Go editor, Kaai Santerelli, is one of our favorite superheroes!

Geek Fair is happening at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road on Sunday, September 20 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.. The Fair is free for all. Teachers and their families also receive free admission to the “Robots Rising” exhibition. Check out our previous posts to learn about other special guests!
